The numbers for the latest desktop OS have begun to circulate in the market from a company that publishes statistical figures, and while Windows 10, the same is happening with Windows 7. These figures are certainly worrying for Microsoft, which is constantly trying to push users towards the latest version.
Specifically, new numbers from Netmarketshare for January show that Windows 10 surpassed the 40% sales mark, a big increase from the previous month. The new users appear to have been among those who left Windows XP and versions 8 and 8.1. Because of this, many would expect Windows 7 to have fallen in sales, as it did in December 2018. In fact, last month saw an increase.
Why does Windows 7 continue to gain more and more popularity ?
According to statistics, there is a clear increase in the number of users who still use Windows 7 today and this has to do with the fact that it is functional, making users not want to part with it. In fact, experts expect that Windows 7 will replace XP. For those who do not know, XP was a Microsoft operating system, which users did not want to abandon after the end of its support. Of course, we also saw in the latest statistics that it is still used by 3% of devices today.
This shows that things will get worse in the future, because if users do not move on to the next versions, there will be many bugs due to the lack of updates. In this way, attackers and hackers will be able to carry out more and more attacks much easier, since there will be no more support from Microsoft. The same thing happened with Windows XP.
So, if you're running Windows 7 but aren't sure how to proceed as its end of support approaches, it's a good idea to reconsider whether you should stay on it.
