Former Google Cloud member heads Microsoft's GitHub

Microsoft completed the acquisition of GitHub in October 2018 ! Microsoft’s plan with this acquisition is to enable developers to achieve more at every stage of the development lifecycle with GitHub. At the same time, the goal is to accelerate its business use and expand the range of the company’s developer tools and services to new audiences. Last month, Microsoft made a big announcement about GitHub and said that it will be free for anyone who wants to create private repositories on GitHub.

To help the company achieve its goals for the new service, it hired the talented and experienced leader, Shanku Niyogi. Shanku is a former member of Google and was the leader of Google Cloud and was responsible for GCP development and management tools, including Cloud SDKs, Go, Cloud Build, Stackdriver and more. It should be noted that before Google, Shanku had worked again for Microsoft but also for equally well-known companies such as Chef. He also has many years of experience in leading, as he has guided teams of large companies, such as Visual Studio Code, TypeScript, .NET, Kubernetes and Go.

According to Shanku himself, the reason he decided to join GitHub is mainly because he believes in its unique mission, which is to connect people and code regardless of boundaries. In addition, he considers the value of teamwork essential in our daily lives, as when people work on something together, they can solve the problem better. Microsoft's recent service offers the advantage of collaboration and will give every developer what they need. It should be noted that GitHub now has more than 31 million developer accounts and recently surpassed 100 million code repositories.
