If you don't have a friend on Instagram who is dedicated to taking flattering photos of you, you have to hope that some friend or even a stranger will take a good picture of you. To make sure they capture exactly what you want, you can try using SOVS (which means “SomeOne Very Special”), a playful Korean photo app that allows you to show people how you want your photo taken.

The concept is simple: you can choose from a menu with white outlines that depict various poses, then you give your phone to the person who will photograph you to place your idol on the outline you selected. You can choose between a square or a 3:4 snapshot and you can also adjust the size of the outlines and move them according to your preferences. The outlines can either appear in the taken photo or simply be used as a guide and disappear when taken.
There are two versions of the app, which are unfortunately only available for iOS at the moment: SOVS costs 99 cents and is meant to be used when you want a solo shot, and SOVS2 is free and comes with some innovative poses for group photos. Of course, there are in-app purchases in case you want to unlock some of the more daring packages.
It's refreshing to see a photo app in the "top apps charts" (it became number one in Photo Apps in South Koreawhen it first debuted last year and is still going strong) that isn't dedicated to over-filtering live spotlights from your face, but instead, offers a simple solution to a common problem.
Is it somewhat annoying? Sure! But will it do the job? Possibly yes! So you stop being shy and give your phone to a stranger to take a nice picture of you. Okay, at first they'll look at it a bit with curiosity but it will definitely result in a nice pose.
