In mid-July, Microsoft announced that it would stop supporting Skype version 7 after September 1, 2018.
But yesterday, September 27, Microsoft executives said that support for version 7 will end on November 1, 2018 on desktops and November 15, 2018 on mobile and tablets.
Microsoft changed the date in its July blog post about the impending retirement of Skype 7.
The company says: “Although you will be able to use older versions for a while, we recommend that you update today to avoid any disruption.”
In mid-July, Microsoft announced that the company planned to end support for Skype 7, also known as Skype “Classic,” on September 1. At the time, the company said that users should install version 8 because those using Skype 7 on Windows desktops would not be able to sign in to the service.
However, in early August, Microsoft began to reconsider after receiving feedback from many dissatisfied users.
