Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus and performance car maker McLaren have launched the “OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition.” According to a statement from the company, the new device marks the start of a long-term partnership, celebrating a shared passion for speed and similar philosophies of the two companies.
The OnePlus 6T McLaren edition is a combination of speed and technology, while OnePlus and McLaren have given it an intricate design, for a dynamic and flexible experience.
“The OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition is amazing. Engineered with precision and new technology we’ve never used before, it’s our fastest and most advanced device yet – the epitome of craftsmanship. It’s the start of an exciting partnership with McLaren, giving people a sense of incredible speed and performance,” said OnePlus CEO Pete Lau.
According to OnePlus, unparalleled speed is at the heart of the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition, with new technology including Warp Charge 30, OnePlus’ new charging standard. Warp Charge 30 takes fast charging to the next level, delivering a full day of battery life in just 20 minutes. Thanks to new integrated circuits in both the charger and the phone, as well as highly tuned power management software, the 30-watt power flow to the device doesn’t slow down, even when in use or generating excessive heat.
The OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition features a colossal 10GB of RAM, ensuring that the phone doesn't slow down even when it comes to high-end gaming, 4K video recording at 60 fps, photo editing on the go, or quickly switching between apps.
McLaren’s signature Papaya Orange color starts at the bottom of the device and fades to black. The pattern beneath the glass back of the phone is based on McLaren’s carbon fiber, the technology that has been used in all McLaren cars since 1981, when it was first introduced in Formula 1 car design, before being incorporated into McLaren’s passenger cars in 1993. The Warp Charge 30 includes a McLaren-colored cable.
The device also comes with a book with the history of both companies, and on the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition, users can enjoy exclusive software animations, tailored to the unique style and history of McLaren.
The device will be available for £649 in Western Europe and North America on December 13, with India, China and the Nordics to follow.
