Automattic has just released version 5.0 of the extremely popular WordPress CMS, with new features related to customizable content blocks.
The biggest addition of the new release is the content editor, which allows you to insert all types of media into blocks and customize them so that they appear as you wish: as horizontal banners, full‑width images or sidebars.
You can also move all the elements on a page as you wish. Additionally, if you want to create a site design for a client who will maintain it themselves, you can create reusable blocks that retain text and image styling, so that newly created pages and content have a consistent look.

There’s also a new default theme called Twenty Nineteen, which takes advantage of the block-based content editor to show you what the CMS can do. Of course, if you’re not interested in the new editor, you can always switch back to the old one using the Classic Editor plugin.
The latest version of WordPress is available for download. If you are already using the CMS, you can update your installation from the Control Panel. Of course, you should back up your site before doing so.
