Windows 10 October 2018: New information has been released about the upcoming major update of Windows 10. It has now been officially announced that the version known to us as Redstone 5 will be called Windows 10 October 2018 Update, and will come in version 1809.
Microsoft revealed today that it will use the name “Windows 10 October 2018 Update” for the next major release, known as Redstone 5. Of course, there is no surprise as the name (like the previous one) identifies the month and year of the release of the update.
The post on the official Windows blog states:
I am pleased to announce that the next update to Windows will be called Windows 10 October 2018 Update
The Windows 10 October 2018 Update will arrive as version 1809, and Microsoft plans to sign the RTM on September 25, with plans to start rolling it out to the public in early October. If all goes according to plan, Microsoft will release the build it plans to release to the public on September 14 to Insiders.
Windows 10 version 1809 will bring many minor improvements as well as interesting new features, such as Cloud Clipboard, a new dark theme for File Explorer, the Screen Sketch app for taking screenshots, the new snipping tool, a new version of the classic notepad app, the “Your Phone” app that allows sending and receiving SMS, calls, and managing iOS and Android devices, and more.
