Bluestacks, a well-known Android emulator for Windows and Mac computers, will collaborate with MSI, which will pre-install the Bluestacks emulator on all new gaming PCs it sells.
“PC gaming has seen rapid growth driven by esports, popular streams, and new titles like PUBG and Fortnite. Today, a large percentage of laptop and desktop sales are driven by PC gaming,” said Clark Peng, general manager and product management at MSI.
“The reason we are integrating the Bluestacks application into our new gaming systems is because it is something we believe our customers need, while at the same time expanding our market. Over the last 5 years we have seen that gaming on smartphones has seen a significant increase, in contrast to the almost stable course of desktops and laptops. Our goal is to turn the tables.”
MSI's partnership with Bluestacks comes with the release of Bluestacks 4, a significantly updated version of the emulator, which runs Android Nougat.
This new version features a simpler menu, the ability to run multiple instances of the same application simultaneously, recommended applications related to the user's history, as well as a renewed Installer that has the ability to preserve user data before upgrading from an older version. In addition, for reasons of ease of use and convenience, significant improvements have been made to the emulator's keymaps, and plug-and-play functionality for gaming controllers has been added.
“Bluestacks 4 features significant improvements to the architecture it is based on. Now the way the Android runtime "communicates" with Windows can provide much better results than an Android phone, achieving up to 6 times higher performance than the Samsung Galaxy s9.
Finally, it was possible to easily play games using only the computer mouse and keyboard.
