RaspAnd Build 171019: GNU/ Linux developer Arne Exton has announced the release of a new build of the RasnAnd project that allows users to run Google's Android operating system on their single-board Raspberry Pi 3 computers.RaspAnd Build 171019

RaspAnd Build 171019 offers support for installing Windows OS from a GNU/Linux distribution using a win32 disk imaging utility. It is limited to 5GB of free file storage space regardless of how large the SD card is used.

"Only about 5GB can be used as storage data regardless of the card you use. The version I uploaded today can be installed via a Linux system," the developer said.

Thanks to this build, users can take advantage of up to 56GB of free storage on the RaspAnd when using a 64GB MicroSD card. Best of all, partitioning can be done using the popular and open source partition editor Gparted, which is usually shipped with most GNU/Linux distributions.

In addition to making these installation improvements, the developer also managed to update the Kodi media center from version 17.3 to the latest one currently available, Kodi 18.0 Alpha 1. He also replaced the Google Chrome browser with Mozilla Firefox 56.0 and added the AIDA 1.47 hardware information utility.

As its name suggests, RaspAnd 7.1.2 Nougat is based on Google's Android 7.1.2 "Nougat" operating system, which you can now install on a MicroSD card and run on your Raspberry Pi 3 computer with a simple GNU/Linux distribution using the instructions provided by the developer on the product page.
