Apple: Ending the nightmare of low battery life

One of the biggest drawbacks of smartphones in general - iPhones in particular - is battery life, with manufacturers trying to solve this issue through different approaches.

Samsung is showing us the results of its efforts through the new Galaxy Note 9 , while Apple intends to follow a different approach, which is coming to life thanks to its transition to OLED screens.

To make it clearer, according to a report from IHS Markit, Apple is preparing a substantial upgrade in display technology that will replace low-temperature thin-film transistors (LTPS TFTs) with low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) substrates.Apple

While this explanation may seem incomprehensible to most of us, such a change could optimize screen usage by making it more efficient. Thus, battery life could be improved by 15%, a significant step for iPhone devices.

It seems that this is a time of change for the giant as it intends to take matters into its own hands and develop the technology in question on its own, without the help of third parties. The future will tell whether this decision by Apple will be beneficial, given that optimizing a display cannot be done overnight, with the main obstacle being the complexity of the process.

The company is reportedly expected to complete the transition to OLED displays in 2019, while rumors suggest that Apple is going to keep at least one LCD model in its family.
