Smartphones ,despite offering us a lot, are very fragile and their daily use can easily lead to a cracked screen. A survey conducted by Motorola concluded that at least 50% of smartphone users have found themselves with a cracked screen on their mobile phone, at least once in their lives. But now there may be a solution for that!
The recently announced Corning Gorilla Glass 6 promises to dramatically reduce the risk of your screen cracking or shattering. At a major event, Corning assured that the new Gorilla Glass 6 could survive up to 15 consecutive drops from a height of 1 m or less.
According to the company, Corning Gorilla Glass 6 is “twice as good as Gorilla Glass 5” and is being called “the toughest cover glass available for mobile devices.”.
Almost all flagship devices, including mid-range and high-end iPhones and Samsung, use Corning Gorilla Glass. But every time, these companies fail to deliver a promising display for their high prices. And if it doesn't crack, the first drop from the pocket definitely weakens the display with visible scratches on it. However, Corning believes that the new product will not show any cracks even after repeated drops.
It would be interesting to see how the new Gorilla Glass will perform on bezel-less phones, because in this case, the impact is first to the glass on an edge-to-edge display, unlike in the past where the frame was the first to contact the ground.
In terms of scratch resistance, the company said the glass would offer the same scratch resistance as the previous Gorilla Glass 5, but would perform better.
