Chinese company OnePlus today unveiled the new OnePlus 5 smartphone, a gorgeous 5.5-inch device that runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system.
The OnePlus 5 was unveiled a few minutes ago during a live event as the company's thinnest smartphone ever. The device comes with a dual-camera system for clearer photos and improved HDR, the latest Android Nougat operating system, and some impressive specs that you can check out below if you're looking to upgrade your old phone.
Dash Charge is another new feature coming with the OnePlus 5, a new charging technology that seems to charge your device much faster than what's currently available on other popular Android phones, like the Samsung S8.
As expected, the OnePlus 5 features the latest version of the Oxygen OS interface.
The device is 7.25mm thick and features a 5.5-inch display with 1080p resolution (1080×1920), Optic AMOLED with 16M colors and Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The OnePlus 5 is powered by a Qualcomm MSM8998 Snapdragon 835 chipset accompanied by a 2.45 GHz Kryo Octa-core CPU and an Adreno 540 GPU.
The device features a dual camera (16 MP f/1.7 and 20 MP f/2.6) with phase detection autofocus and LED flash, 2160p video recording at 30fps, as well as a secondary 8 MP, 1080p front-facing camera for selfies.
The OnePlus 5 supports Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, hotspot support, A2DP Bluetooth LE 5.0, built-in GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, BDS, and USB Type-C 1.0.
It has a fingerprint scanner, gyroscope, accelerometer, compass, and proximity sensors. It comes with a non-removable Li-Ion 3300 mAh battery.
The device comes in two colors Midnight Black and Slate Gray with capacities of 64 GB and 128 GB with 6 GB and 8 GB of RAM respectively.
The OnePlus 5 is available for pre-order now from the official OnePlus online store for $479. If purchased, the device will ship from June 27, 2017.
