Linux Mint project leader Clement Lefebvre recently announced the release and immediate availability for download of Linux Mint 19 “Tara” Beta with Cinnamon, MATE, and Xfce editions.
Linux Mint 19 “Tara” Beta is based on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS (Bionic Beaver) and comes with Cinnamon, MATE and Xfce editions which will be powered by Linux 4.15.
Essentially, the Beta version gives us a first taste of what we should expect from the final version which is expected very soon within the month.
The new Linux Mint 19 “Tara” will feature the latest Cinnamon 3.8, MATE 1.20 and Xfce 4.12 desktop environments, a new backups application, Timeshift as well as better HiDPI support.

Additionally, the Software Manager, Update Manager and XApps have received new features and improvements that will make your experience much more enjoyable. Other changes you will encounter include: support for formatting USB sticks, improved multi-monitor support and the GNOME Calendar app by default.
Those of you interested in trying out the Beta version of Linux Mint 19 “Tara” can download it with the Cinnamon, MATE or Xfce editions via the Linux Mint project website and judge whether it is a positive addition or not.
