Microsoft has been trying for some time to make Windows 10 the number one choice for users and businesses, and, according to new data, it seems to be succeeding.
Specifically, a recent report reveals that Windows 10 adoption by businesses reached 48% in 2018 compared to 27% in 2017. A rise that shows that the new operating system is slowly but surely reaching its peak.
Windows 7, the successful operating system of 2009, fell to 44% from 65% in 2017. For information, Windows 7 is expected to reach the end of its support in January 2020.
It is worth noting that Windows 10 is focused on businesses, with security being considered one of the main reasons why customers prefer it.
The downside for Microsoft is that Windows is losing out. What do we mean? Microsoft's overall share fell from 68% to 65% this year, while MacOS increased from 27% to 30%. Apple also gained in the mobile sector, with iOS increasing from 2% to 12%.
This shift in preferences stems from the fact that iOS and macOS devices are more up-to-date than Android and Chrome OS. Let's also not forget that most out-of-date devices run on Android.
