Leagoo: As we have already mentioned, a recent investigation by Dr. Web revealed that more than 40 Android phones manufactured - mostly - in China have a pre-installed malware in their software that facilitates data leakage.
In a statement, LEAGOO denied the allegations, adding that it contacted the security firm before the release of the research and found that the malware was actually "APK code for advertising."
Leagoo has since updated its software to no longer include the code in question, and stresses that all phones are scanned for malware before they leave the factory. The company recommends that users who may be receiving these so-called fake virus notifications update to the latest version of the operating system, which includes an updated algorithm.
Furthermore, the Chinese company warns that it intends to sue all media outlets that published the analysis from Dr. Web and ignored the fact that the company has already solved the problem.
Recall that Dr. Web had stated that it had traced a Trojan part of the Android.Triada family to a software developer from Shanghai, who is a partner of Leagoo and provided it with one of the applications to be included in an image of the mobile operating system, as well as an instruction for adding third-party code to the system libraries before compiling them.
The security company adds that despite this worrying discovery, the manufacturer was not particularly alarmed, resulting in Android.Triada.231 reaching users without any obstacles.
