Linux Kernel 4.13 is finished, move to Linux 4.14 LTS immediately

The end of the Linux Kernel 4.13 series was recently announced, thus urging all users to migrate to Linux 4.14 LTS as soon as possible.

Specifically, last week the sixteenth maintenance update for the Linux 4.13 kernel series, version 4.13.16, was announced, which appears to be the last one to be released for the branch. Therefore, Linux 4.13 will not receive any further updates.Linux Kernel

What does this mean? Those of you using a kernel from the Linux 4.13 series should upgrade to Linux kernel 4.13.16 or prepare to upgrade to the latest Linux kernel 4.14 LTS, which is a long-term release that will receive support for years to come.

For those who are not yet ready to upgrade to the Linux 4.14 LTS kernel, we would like to inform you that the Linux 4.13.16 kernel changes a total of 39 files, with 178 insertions and 133 deletions. Most of the changes are related to networking, both drivers and core networking.

Note that this release offers updates to various USB drivers, Mellanox and Broadcom Ethernet drivers, the OCFS2 file system, and a bunch of host networking changes to IPv4, L2TP, SCTP, Netlink, and IEEE 802.1Q.

For more details about the changes, check the mailing list announcements or download the Linux kernel 4.13.16 source code from kernel.org.
