Microsoft released the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update last night. So as expected, the first problems started appearing today.
Some users who rushed to upgrade to the Fall Creators Update are reporting that the Start menu no longer works once the process is complete and they see their desktop again.
There are many messages on the Microsoft forum that refer to various issues with the Start menu after updating to version 1709. The messages on the Microsoft forum state that it is impossible to perform some task from the operating system feature.
user net4u is facing an even more complicated issue, as many of his applications no longer appear in the menu, and thus he cannot launch them in the familiar way.
“The apps are still there, but they’re hidden. I’ve noticed that if I browse the Windows App Store site in Windows 10 with Edge, I can open several of the apps that are in my library. So they’re there somewhere, but they’re not visible on the taskbar or Start menu.
Microsoft support technicians monitoring the forums have not yet mentioned any way that could resolve the issue, and they have not said anything about whether the company is preparing a patch that will address it in a future update.
So before you update, it's important to know that the Fall Creators Update is a fairly "heavy" operating system and such errors are almost certain to appear, especially if the update is done manually and not via Windows Update.
