You have probably seen videos on YouTube where at the end the video creator adds a clickable link so that users can visit a website, such as the creator's blog, a Patreon page, or something else. You can click and go to whatever site they lead you to.
So, Google is changing its policy in this area.
It appears that from now on, if the video creator is not enrolled in the YouTube, they will not be able to add clickable links to the end of their videos. YouTube confirmed these changes and in a statement it says: “This update is intended to curb abuse and does not impact current YouTube partners or existing end cards. Additionally, channels do not need to actually generate revenue from videos as part of this requirement.”
Therefore, if you are already part of the YouTube Partner Program, this change will not affect you. However, if you have a small channel that is still growing or if you do not wish to join the Partner Program, then you will not be able to add clickable links to your videos. To join the program, you will need at least 10,000 channel views and also be approved.
This will naturally hurt the smaller channels and while external links can still be added to the YouTube description section, it is not the same as being able to click them while you are watching the video.
