Windows 10 build 16288: Microsoft today released a new version of the upcoming Windows 10 update. The preview was released to Insiders and is at build 16288.
The new build is only available from the Fast Ring and brings a number of new features and fixes. It is the first release to not have a watermark on the desktop and comes without an expiration date.
This indicates that the development of Windows 10 “Redstone 3” is coming to an end. The release of this build to the production channel is expected to take place in April 2017.
The absence of the above features (watermark and expiration date) does not mean that this build is an RTM version. It is better to wait for the official announcement from Microsoft.
In the Windows 10 Build 16288 change log, Microsoft mentioned that the desktop watermark may reappear in the future.
