YouTube mp3.org: One of the most popular free sites for converting YouTube videos to MP3 may soon be shut down by the music industry.
The administrator of YouTube-mp3.org, who was sued by the Recording Industry Association of America, or RIAA, last year, has apparently agreed to hand over his website, TorrentFreak reports. So it looks like the RIAA will keep the domain.
In exchange for no further prosecution, the YouTube mp3 website will stop working. It seems to be working for now, but when you try to convert a video, an error message appears.
Meanwhile, the RIAA won't just take control of the domain. According to the notice published by TorrentFreak (PDF), the site's operator will not be required to "design, develop, offer or exploit any technology or service that enables or facilitates the practice commonly known as 'streamripping.'"
