Microsoft continues to improve the Edge browser with new features, and the latest version of Windows 10 Creators Update brings many of them, including options to set tabs, tab previews, and more control options for Flash controls.

However, the arrival of the Creators Update has created little interest in the Edge browser, according to new data from research firm NetMarketShare, with the new Windows 10 improving its share by only 0.01% last month - it should be noted that the Creators Update was launched on April 5 as a manual download and on April 11 via Windows Update.
Microsoft Edge was used by just 5.61% of PC in March, while a month later the share increased to 5.62%, despite the arrival of the Windows 10 Creators Update and all the improvements it includes.
On the other hand, Google Chrome, which is clearly the number one browser in the PC world, increased its share from 58.64% to 59%, so that almost 6 out of 10 computers are now running Google's browser. This means that most users who are not happy with Edge are switching to Google Chrome, while some are also going to Firefox (currently with a share of 11.80%).
One reason for Microsoft Edge lagging behind its rivals is its limited availability because, while Google Chrome is available on all operating systems for Windows and non-Windows computers, Edge can only be used on devices running Windows 10.
Additionally, Microsoft releases new features at a rather slow pace, usually when new OS versions have been greenlit, as was the case with the Creators Update.
There's no word yet on whether Edge will be available on non-Windows 10 systems, as Microsoft still wants to use the browser as one of the reasons to convince users to update to this version of the operating system.
