OnePlus is feverishly working on a new smartphone, news that was recently confirmed by the company's CEO, Pete Lau.
Unfortunately for us this new post reveals nothing about the device's specifications or its name. Rumors, however, suggest that due to Asian cultural superstitions OnePlus will skip the number 4 in the naming of the new phone.
The post also includes the hashtag “NeverSettle” of the company, confirming that it indeed refers to the OnePlus 5. However, we should expect the new smartphone within the next two months, given that the OnePlus 2 was announced in July and the OnePlus 3 debuted in June.
We should note that some information regarding the new smartphone leaked over the past weeks, revealing a dual-camera setup on the back of the phone, which is supposedly made of metal. Additionally, the camera sensors will be 16MP combined with the ability to capture wide-angle photos as well as take more depth photos.
The new OnePlus smartphone comes with a 7mm thick body and a 5.5‑inch screen with QHD pixel resolution on the front. The images do not reveal the presence of a fingerprint sensor on the back, which means it could be placed on the front.
Regarding the phone's interior, it will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor combined with 6 GB or 8 GB of RAM.
The OnePlus 5 will likely run on Android Nougat. The battery capacity will reach 3,000mAh. The phone will be water and dust resistant.
A short time remains until the official announcement when the above will be confirmed or disproved.
