F-Secure Little Flocker: Next-Generation Protection on Macs

F-Secure has released XFENCE, powered by Little Flocker. The application will enhance corporate and home security solutions on macOS by adding advanced malware prevention techniques.

Security company F-Secure has acquired Little Flocker, the most advanced security technology available for Mac, from an app developer. F-Secure Little Flocker

Most Mac security solutions rely entirely on malware signatures, but this cannot protect Mac users from modern targeted attacks.

Little Flocker protects Mac computers using advanced behavior-based analysis and monitors applications that attempt to access confidential files and system resources. It also detects and blocks Mac ransomware.

F Secure will integrate its next-generation Little Flocker security engine into the new XFENCE technology. XFENCE will complement F-Secure’s existing endpoint protection solutions by providing advanced Mac protection solutions for both businesses and consumers.

The myth that Macs don't require protection from ransomware, backdoors, and other software vulnerabilities is starting to fray. Advanced persistent threats (APTs) are increasingly targeting Macs due to Apple's popularity among senior-level employees and other high-value targets.

By acquiring the core Little Flocker technology and implementing it into F Secure's endpoint protection portfolio as XFENCE, F-Secure will further enhance its existing cybersecurity capabilities for advanced zero-day attack detection, regardless of the platform its customers choose.

"Macs have become an attractive entry point for attackers seeking to infiltrate organizations. With Little Flocker technology, we will enhance behavioral analysis-based protection on Macs to stop our modern adversaries," said Mikka Stahlberg, Chief Technology Officer at F Secure.

Josmaarten Swinkels, CEO of Inter Engineering comments, “F-Secure is focused on being the best in detection and is investing heavily in technology to achieve this. This is one of many actions that benefit both F-Secure’s customers and partner community.”

HF Secure plans to leverage Little Flocker technology with its security cloud and implement it in Protection Service for Business, a security solution with centralized management of PCs, mobile devices and servers with built-in patching and Mobile Fleet Management. The technology will soon be available to consumers as part of the F-Secure SAFE solution – security for multiple and diverse devices.

For tech-savvy users, the company will continue to offer the F-Secure XFENCE tool as a next-generation cybersecurity solution, which will be available through a free beta version at:
