The main objective of the “Public Integrity Hackathon” is the creation and development of innovative digital applications (for the internet, computers, mobile phones) with the aim of raising public awareness regarding the prevention and zero tolerance of corruption phenomena. In general, corruption “is the abuse of delegated authority for personal gain”.

Public Integrity Hackathon: This is an intensive marathon of ideas and programming competition, which brings together those responsible for combating corruption with the talent and creativity of software developers, aiming to develop applications for anti-corruption challenges.

These digital applications may include:
• Educational applications aimed at students,
• Creation of a central platform for receiving complaints related to corruption,
• Creation of tools aimed at public servants,
• Applications for visualizing the cost of corruption,
• Application for monitoring the State's finances and supervising the procedures by citizens,
• Games that will familiarize citizens with the concept of corruption.

These proposals will teach/ensure citizens the necessary measure of transparency and integrity that should govern public life, making them part of the effort to combat these phenomena.

At the discretion of the OECD, winners will have the option to sign a service contract to develop their idea into a complete technological tool ready for public use.

The selection of the winners will be made by a jury.

Applications will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
• Relevance to the promotion of integrity and the fight against corruption,
• Innovation,
• Practical utility,
• Potential sustainability and impact,
• Clarity of presentation.

Detailed information in the attached documents. Participants can express their interest and ask questions/clarifications about the Hackathon by sending an email to OOSA.info[at]oecd.org until March 22.

This initiative is taken within the framework of the Greek Anti-Corruption Plan, which is supported by the OECD and the European Commission in the context of technical assistance to combat corruption.
