Vault 7: Wikileaks has just released a massive database of confidential documents that could be the largest leak ever made by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).
The leak is the “first batch” of files from Wikileaks “codenamed Vault 7” which focuses on the CIA’s inner workings, such as espionage protocols and hacking investigation protocols.
Julian Assange had planned to present the leak today at a press conference he announced earlier yesterday. Unexpected issues with Assange’s live streaming on Facebook prompted him to proceed with a contingency plan, releasing 8,700 confidential documents – despite the press conference being canceled.

The first leaks give us an insider's view of the CIA's global hacking and cyber-eavesdropping tactics.
The website states about Vault 7:
“The first full-length installment of the series, “Year Zero,” consists of 8,761 documents and files from an isolated, high-security network located within the CIA’s Cyber Intelligence Center in Langley, Virginia. It contains revelations about when the CIA targeted French political parties and candidates in the run-up to the 2012 presidential election.
"The CIA recently lost control of the majority of its hacking arsenal, including malware, viruses, trojans, weaponized “zero day” exploits, remote login malware, and the associated documentation. This extraordinary collection, which amounts to several hundred million lines of code, gives its owner the entire hacking power of the CIA."

“Year Zero” shows the scope and direction of the CIA’s global hacking, its arsenal of malware and dozens of “zero days” used against a wide range of American and European products. Apple’s iPhone, Google’s Android and Microsoft’s Windows, even Samsung TVs, are turned into covert microphones.
In addition to documents revealing techniques the CIA uses to monitor and steal data from smartphones and other mobile devices, the leaks appear to indicate that the agency has developed potentially lethal technologies that allow for the remote control of both land and air vehicles. We should also mention the control over medical devices.
The volume of documents leaked from Vault 7 already exceeds the first three years of Edward Snowden's leaks about the NSA.
Information from the period between 2013 and 2016 is revealed, and the first part focuses on recent events.
