Beyonce has broken another record, although this time it's on Instagram. After her post announcing that she's pregnant with twins, fans rushed to give it their all and liked the photo, helping it become the most-liked photo in Instagram history.
At this moment, 13 hours after the post, the photo has 7.2 million likes and over 364,000 comments. With such a feat, it was expected to claim the title of the most liked photo on Instagram.
Guinness World Records is apparently in the process of updating its page on this particular record, as when you go to load the page it gives you an error. They did acknowledge the feat in a tweet reading “With 6.6 million likes @Beyonce has broken the record for most likes on a picture on #Instagram after this announcement and Jay-Z are expecting twins,” the message posted about four hours ago reads.
The previous record was held by fellow singer Selena Gomez, who managed to garner 6.3 million likes for a post featuring a Coca-Cola ad featuring the lyrics of a song. Beyonce's 6.3 million likes were garnered in less than eight hours. In contrast, Gomez's photo had been on Instagram since July 2016, so it had plenty of time to rack up that many likes.
It should come as no surprise to anyone that Beyonce 's announcement set a new Instagram record. Back in 2011, when she announced her pregnancy to Blue Ivy, she broke another social media record for generating the most Tweets per second for any event ever – 8,868.
