Back in 2016, Microsoft introduced EPUB file support to the Edge browser, making it possible for users to read eBooks without the need for a third-party app.
And as it turns out, Microsoft has long-term plans regarding this feature, as the company is now working on making eBooks available in the Windows Store, so that users will be able to download and read their books on Windows 10 devices.
What's very important to note is that Microsoft plans to bring this feature to all Windows 10 devices, including not only PCs and tablets but also smartphones. The Edge browser will be the main tool for this, as it will allow users to read eBooks without the need for third-party apps.
As reported by MSPU, there will be a new eBook category in the Windows Store , and some of the books will be available for a fee. Purchasing them could work just like apps and games, so if you already have a payment method set up, the whole process shouldn't take more than a few seconds.
Microsoft Edge will also get some additional features for managing your ebook purchases and downloads, so the browser will have a library so you can control all of those items. There will also be other features added to Microsoft Edge, including bookmarks, an option available on almost any eBook that allows you to continue reading where you left off.
