Yahoo: Not only irresponsible on security, but it won't let you leave

We've been reading a lot of bad things about Yahoo lately: Last month, a massive breach was revealed that affected data from 500 million users. Last week, the company was found to be scanning its users' emails and handing that information over to US intelligence agencies.

It's natural, then, that many users have considered switching to other services that offer at least a basic level of security.Yahoo Mail

The problem is that while the company gives you access to delete your account, it doesn't let you leave Yahoo Mail. According to the Associated Press, the service has disabled a feature that allows you to forward inbox messages to different addresses.

This means you will still have to open your Yahoo inbox to check if anyone is still sending you email at your old address.

The only way to notify your contacts of your address change is through out-of-office autoresponse, which continues to work, unlike Auto Forward. This feature allows for automatic responses in case you are out of office.

In the auto-reply email, you can write a message that will include your new email address.
