HERE WeGo: The world of transportation is certainly changing with new technologies that help find faster and shorter routes. Urban mobility with map services on each user's smartphone (see Google Maps or HERE Maps) has become a game even in cities you've never been to before.
The HERE Maps app has gotten a few new features with a major update, but the real innovation is that the app has been renamed to HERE WeGo. The motivation for this move is that the HERE Maps name was a bit too generic and similar to other smaller apps, according to the company.
Additionally, the company found that only a few regular users opened the app to view a route, and they usually did so to find the fastest way to get to their destination.
So the main use of the app is to find the fastest route to get to your destination and the company thought that fact should be reflected in the name of the app.
Of course, we should mention that a very good reason for renaming the application (although the company does not mention it) is the search for new users of the service. A service that Google currently seems to be leading with the Google Maps application, which was recently upgraded and became much more visible.
Let's see if they can pull it off with a simple name change and some functionality tweaks.
