Just released: KDE Plasma 5.6

The team behind the KDE project has announced the release and availability of the new desktop environment, KDE Plasma 5.6 for GNU/Linux operating systems.KDE Plasma 5.6

The KDE Plasma 5.6 announcement states that the new release includes support for color schemes with the Breeze theme, an improved task manager with support for displaying task progress, media controls on the Plasma screen and tooltips, the implementation of FolderView in the panel, and multiple KRunner improvements for a smoother appearance.general-desktop

“Today the KDE project releases a new desktop version, Plasma 5.6,” the announcement reads.

“This release of Plasma brings many improvements to the task manager, KRunner, activities, and Wayland support, as well as a much more refined look and feel.”

The KDE Plasma 5.6 desktop environment is currently making its way to the software repositories of the most popular GNU/Linux operating systems.

We will see in the coming days or weeks and as usual, five maintenance updates will follow, KDE Plasma 5.6.1 at the end of this month, KDE Plasma 5.6.2 on April 5, KDE Plasma 5.6.3 on April 19, KDE Plasma 5.6.4 on May 10, and the last one, KDE Plasma 5.6.5, which will be available on June 14, 2016.
