As expected, Apple unveiled a new, smaller iPhone at its event today. The new device is called the iPhone SE.
It's the same size as the iPhone 5S, but it has very subtle curves on its edges. But not the subtle curves that the iPhone 6 lineup has.
Internally, the iPhone SE has an A9 SoC and an M9 coprocessor that makes it twice as fast as the iPhone 5S. It also contains an NFC chip for Apple Pay.
The rear camera is 12 megapixels, while the front-facing camera is 5 megapixels and uses the screen for a flash. Apple has added the latest Wi-Fi and cellular technologies to the SE, making it a “mini iPhone 6S.”
The SE also features Touch ID, but lacks 3D Touch display technology. The iPhone SE will be available in space gray, rose gold, silver, or gold.
The price of the device starts at $399 (with 16GB) and $499 for 64GB.
The iPhone SE will be available for pre-order on March 24 and in US stores on March 31. Apple has promised to make the SE available in many more countries by the end of the year.
