European distinction for the Greek company Crypteia Networks and the European Fund

The collaboration between the Greek company Crypteia Networks, a start-up specializing in real-time Electronic Threat Monitoring Systems (Threat Intelligence Platform, MOREAL), and the National Documentation Center (EKT) was distinguished as a good business support practice, claiming one of this year’s Awards of the Enterprise Europe Network, the largest European network for entrepreneurship and innovation. Crypteia Networks was one of the three finalist SMEs, in the “New Success” category of this year’s awards of the network, which are awarded to successful businesses that utilize the services of the Enterprise Europe Network.

Crypteia Networks (www.crypteianetworks.com) has developed an innovative cyberattack identification and detection platform, which allows its customers to optimize their lines of defense and identify the cyberthreats to which they are exposed. Within a short period of time, Crypteia Networks has managed to demonstrate over 120 implementations in Europe and America as well as to promote two patents in America (US Patent & Trademark Office).

The National Documentation Center (www.ekt.gr), a driving force of innovation and entrepreneurship and coordinator of the Enterprise Europe Network-Hellas (www.enterprise-hellas.gr), actively supports high-tech start-ups in our country and provides value-added services. In this context, it effectively supported Crypteia Networks in seeking and claiming funding from European programs and from private investors in Greece and abroad. Furthermore, it opened new markets in Europe and the USA through the Enterprise Europe Network, while supporting the company in securing intellectual property rights for the innovation.

“The support of the National Documentation Center and the Enterprise Europe Network-Hellas network has been crucial for the development of the company, which already has more than 120 customers in Greece and abroad,” said the Founder and CEO of Crypteia Networks, Mr. Yiannis Gkiokas. “In addition, it has filed two patent applications in the US and is on a growth trajectory that fills us with satisfaction to continue our dynamic course in the future.” Crypteia Networks’ success is reflected in its financial results, its new customers (including MIT-Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the US) and the fact that it is preparing to open 20 new high-tech jobs in our country within the next quarter.

“The EKT contributes substantially to the extroversion of Greek businesses, universities and research organizations, through the expansion of the activities of the Enterprise Europe Network-Hellas, the provision of specialized know-how transfer services, as well as support services for the protection, management and exploitation of intellectual property,” said the Director of the EKT, Dr. Evi Sahini.

The Enterprise Europe Network (https://een.ec.europa.eu) were presented on 23 September in Brussels. In total, 3 Awards were presented: In the “New Markets” category, the award went to the British company Rokos Design and the Czech glass manufacturer Sklarna Novosad & Sun Harrachov, whose collaboration with the support of the network led to a new technology and lower production costs. In the “New Success” category, the award went to the Hungarian company Αteknea Solutions Hungary LLC and the Spanish Virtual Solutions, who collaborated to develop an interactive tablet computer for people with visual impairment. In the “New Horizons” category, the award, which concerns small and medium-sized enterprises that develop by taking advantage of events and missions of the Enterprise Europe Network, was awarded to the German company TMTM and the Greek company Campervan Rental Service, with the mediation of the Chamber of Arcadia and the PRAXI Network (partner bodies of the Enterprise Europe Network-Hellas). TMTM’s participation in the Mission for Growth event in Athens in 2013 led to three cooperation agreements for the development of cycling tourism and for the German company to undertake the marketing of the Greek company’s services in the Peloponnese.
