The LG G Flex is the first smartphone with a curved screen to go into mass production. While Samsung's Galaxy Round has been confirmed as the world's first smartphone with a curved screen, the device was released in limited quantities and is only for South Korea. So LG's device seems to be taking the lead (again, Samsung).
Well, those who have already bought the G Flex would have noticed that their device is very flexible and does not break even if you sit on it. Have you ever wondered how flexible the LG G Flex can be? How much pressure can a screen made of plastic withstand? The answer seems to be “a lot.”
LG itself states in its specifications about the G Flex's curved shape: "The flexibility of this product is limited. The phone can be bent up to 180 degrees for a limited time only. Do not bend the device inward."
However, members of Consumer Reports decided to find out just how flexible LG's G Flex could be by performing a series of very tough tests on the device.
They used an Instron compression machine to put pressure on the phone. They started the tests by applying 40 kilograms of pressure to the phone. When they discovered after repeated attempts that the device remained intact and worked flawlessly, they began to increase the pressure. At 205 kilograms, they heard the first crack, but the device continued to work flawlessly.
