The website Statista just sent an email to all its members. The email states that someone has hacked the website and managed to access the site's database.
The website Statista is known for its infographics that it creates from its own or scientifically documented statistics. The infographics are often published by many large and authoritative sites. The email states when the breach occurred, except that passwords and usernames have probably been leaked.
The email states:
Despite extensive security precautions, some unknown individuals have illegally gained temporary access to our customer database. We would like to bring this to your attention as this is a matter of critical importance to us. We can also assure you that the security breach has now been closed by our team.
However, there is still a possibility that some of your personal data may have been leaked:
Your email address/login
and password (masked)According to internal evaluation by external IT professionals, password data cannot be used by third parties due to encryption. Of course, you can change your password at any time from your profile if you wish.

We recommend that you change your password immediately if you were a member of the website and used the same password elsewhere. No one can be sure even though the company says that the passwords are encrypted.
