When Microsoft removed the Start menu with the release of Windows 8, it caused panic among many users accustomed to the Windows UI, both beginners and non-beginners. The simplest task took a long time, especially at first, when no one was used to the new system.

While many Windows users have now gotten used to the new Start screen, a Microsoft UX(originally User experience) designer, nicknamed “pwnies,” explained on Reddit that the Start menu is far inferior to the new features that came with Windows 8, so it made perfect sense to see it removed in the new operating system.
“When the start menu was designed, we didn’t know much about the user experience. In terms of efficiency, the new models respond faster than the old ones in tests” (by “old” he means the navigation tree and the mouse), said the designer.
Of course, despite Mr. pwnies, thousands if not millions are waiting for the return of the Start Menu in Windows, regardless of Microsoft's plans. Maybe Windows 8 responds faster on systems with touch screens, but the majority of Microsoft customers still use the mouse...
