Facebook has angered its members several times with its changes, and according to a new report from the Wall Street Journal, that's exactly what's about to happen once again.
Facebook's head of analytics, Ken Rudin, has talked about how the social network plans to track its users' behavior. In short, Facebook plans to monitor its members very closely. The company is currently developing software that will record everything from the moment a user's Newsfeed is visible on their screen to how long a user is on the site. How? Facebook are doing by tracking your mouse movements.
Facebook will be the first company to try something like this. A few years ago, Microsoft developed a method that allowed for mouse tracking via Javascript. Given the close relationship between Facebook and Microsoft, we may soon see this become a reality. Or, more frighteningly, we may not see it at all.
But Rudin continued: "It's a never-ending phase, I can't promise that something like this will be released. We'll know in a few months." What do you think of the idea?
Did anyone talk about privacy rights?
