The next step in the smartphone seems to have been taken by Taiwanese company Polytron Technologies. It created a transparent device that, thanks to Switchable Glass technology, allows it to be used from both the front and back.
How it works
The impressive prototype developed by the company features conductive organic light-emitting diode (OLED) surfaces, which project images using liquid crystal molecules. The transfer of electrical charge is carried out via transparent cables.
When the futuristic phone is turned off, the molecules align with each other, creating a "milky" composition. When it is turned on again, the molecules "activate" by visualizing the device's functions and displaying text and images.
There are, however, parts of the mobile phone that are not transparent for the time being, such as the SD and SIM cards. The microphone, camera and battery are also visible and according to the company's vision they are going to be "hidden" behind a dark glass surface. The experts' goal now is to develop a smaller lithium-ion battery, which will not attract the user's gaze. The transparent mobile phone for many... caresses back and forth is not ruled out touching the production line within the year, according to the ambitious plans of its inventor.
" This particular mobile phone is going to become a reality by the end of 2013. Believe me ," emphasizes Polytron 's general manager , Sam Yu .
