Valeri Aleksejev, a 32-year-old Estonian, pleaded guilty to his role in a criminal act that claimed 4 million victims worldwide and caused $14 million in damages.

Aleksejev is the first of six people arrested by the FBI in November 2011 and has admitted to his involvement in the operation, Reuters reports. He faces up to 25 years in prison for these crimes. As for his accomplices, another Estonian resident has been extradited to the United States. The others are still in the process of being extradited. However, there is also a seventh suspect, Andrey Taame from Russia, who has not yet been arrested by authorities.
DNS Changer, the malware that made cybercriminals millions and made a lot of headlines, was forced by the FBI to refresh several DNS servers to give victims of the Trojan time to clean their systems before they lost their Internet connections. In July 2012, after numerous tips and removal tools , the malicious DNS servers were shut down.
