Samsung is apparently preparing its answer to the iPad mini and it goes by the name, Galaxy Note 8.0, a smaller version of the Galaxy Note 10.1 that is expected to have a very “aggressive” price. In addition to the 8-inch screen, the device will have a 5-megapixel camera on the back, a 1.3-megapixel camera on the front and of course Samsung’s S Pen stylus.
According to SamMobile, there will be two different versions of the Galaxy Note 8.0. One has the model number GT-N5100 and will support WiFi and 3G, while the other has the model number GT-N5110 and will support WiFi only. Apart from the difference in 3G, everything else in both models will be the same.
The screen resolution will be 1280 x 800, it will have 2GB of RAM, the storage will come in two versions, 16 and 32GB, while it will also have a built-in microSD card slot. As for connectivity, it will support Bluetooth 4, USB 2.0 and GPS while its battery will be 4,600mAh.
The above specs suggest that the Galaxy Note 8.0 is not a high-end tablet, but it doesn't need to be since its purpose is apparently to compete with the iPad mini. And if it's priced right, then Apple will have to move fast.
