Liquipel's nano-coating waterproofing technology impressed us at last year's CES, and it didn't take long for HzO to reveal its own rival method.
HzO is upping the ante this time with the new WaterBlock coating, which can shield your devices from sodas, juices, beers, and energy sports drinks, which would normally destroy your device immediately upon contact.
How does WaterBlock work?
Without going into technical details, HzO applies WaterBlock waterproofing to electronic devices with a “chemical vapor deposition process” that basically covers all circuits with a transparent shield of bonded molecules.
The HzO representative says that WaterBlock is more effective than hydrophobic coating technologies offered by other companies because it is not simply a layer that is sprayed on the inside and outside of the device.

Obviously, one risk with waterproofing coatings is that they can leave tiny gaps and openings, which will wear out much more quickly over time.
Representatives from HzO even told us that devices coated with WaterBlock do not activate the moisture detection tags located inside most device ports and slots.
Unlike Liquipel, which targets consumers directly, HzO works with over 500 OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) to put WaterBlock technology into devices during their manufacturing process.

From what we saw in the demonstration, where various smartphones, e-readers, and tablets coated with WaterBlock were submerged in various liquids, including Gatorade and beer, the waterproofing works really well.
HzO told us that devices with the coating can remain submerged in any liquid for an unlimited period of time.
So, what do you say? Are you ready for waterproof electronic enjoyment?
