Even though Microsoft has said many times that Windows RT is the best way to enjoy the new features of Windows 8 on a tablet, many have complained that the operating system does not support traditional Windows applications.
The reason was pretty much obvious: since Windows RT was developed for ARM devices, it could only handle ARM-optimized processes
However, a post from the Surfsec blog reveals a way to jailbreak the Windows RT operating system so that it can run unsigned applications that run on PCs, inside Windows RT.
This means that users can overcome Microsoft's limitation and run traditional Windows applications on RT or any other tablet with the new operating system.
The blog claims that “the ban on traditional desktop apps is not a technical issue, but purely a marketing decision” and that “Windows RT needs the Win32 ecosystem to strengthen its position as a productivity tool.
But while all of this sounds like great news for Windows RT users, there are a few drawbacks to consider.
One of them is that the jailbreak will only last until you reboot your device (similar to tethering on iOS devices).
