The new chair released by Nissan is set to change the way we wait in line forever
If Nissan had managed to release its self-driving chair, ProPilot, in time to catch the release of the new iPhone 7 – then waiting in line to get the device would have become a lot easier and maybe even fun!
The prototype chair, which can move on its own and stop before it hits an obstacle, is finally here. It was developed by the Japanese automaker and was promoted via a YouTube earlier this week. Although the chairs are still in the development stage, they already offer a promising opportunity for organizing queues and even helping people with limited mobility.
They were modeled after Nissan’s self-driving car program, ProPilot. The chairs use the same technology that was originally designed for single-lane highway driving. They detect other chairs and follow a line on their own. The chairs are also programmed with “self-parking” technology. Imagine this: all the chairs automatically returning to their seats at a table after a long business meeting.
This development will either make us lazier or smarter. Either way, ProPilot is the autonomous chair of the future we've been waiting for.
