The eternal battle of browsers | Who is the dominant one?

browsers - The eternal battle of browsers

Microsoft has decided to replace Internet Explorer with Edge as the default browser in Windows 10. However, the company is expected to lose significant share in the browser.

This happens because Google Chrome is increasing its market share at a rate that few could have predicted and is now very close to reaching 50 percent, according to data provided by Net Applications.

Google Chrome continued to increase its market share last month, while Internet Explorer lost even more, resulting in the gap between the two widening. Now Chrome leads the market with a share of 48.65 percent, with Internet Explorer following at 31.65 percent.

If the same trends continue this month, there is a high chance we will see Chrome reach 50% very soon, with Google's browser “running” on one out of two computers worldwide. This is certainly a major achievement that should worry Microsoft, even if the company no longer invests in Internet Explorer but in Edge, which is expected to receive several new updates very soon. However, it will be very difficult to beat Chrome if Google's browser continues to increase its market share at the same rate.

And speaking about Edge, the new Windows 10 browser also gradually increases its share, but it does so rather slowly, mainly due to its limited availability. Edge exists exclusively on Windows 10 (and on Windows 10 Mobile), and this is the main reason it cannot develop as quickly as the browsers that are available on all Windows versions.

Edge is currently in fourth place on the charts with a share of 5.09 percent, while Mozilla Firefox is in third place with 7.98 percent.

Based on specific versions, Google Chrome 51 is the leader with 19.70 percent, followed by Internet Explorer 11 with 19.40 percent. Chrome 50 is in third place with 9 percent. The battle is mainly fought with the latest versions of Chrome and Internet Explorer, but Microsoft is focusing exclusively on Edge, you understand who is going to win.
