Pay Pal recently announced its decision to remove its Windows Phone app and it looks like Amazon is preparing to do the same, although this time, the company seems to be going for a softer approach.
As noted, the official Amazon app for Windows Phone no longer appears in search results in the store, so the only way to download what you want is via a link. Obviously, this made it quite difficult to install since the majority of users use the store for such things, so everyone thought that Amazon was planning to remove the app completely.
At the time, there were two scenarios that everyone was talking about: Amazon was either trying to abandon Windows Phone altogether, and so wanted to remove the app altogether, or that the company was preparing for the global launch of the new Windows 10 app, and so wanted the existing client to no longer be available for download.
Unfortunately, with all the secrecy surrounding the decision to remove the app from search results, it seems like Amazon really wants to leave Windows phones behind altogether, and a new change taking place these days seems to be the living proof.
The Amazon app can no longer be installed on Windows Phone devices, not even with a direct connection, although there are some reports in various parts of the world that everything is still working properly. For the majority of users, however, the Amazon app has disappeared completely. Those who already have the Amazon app installed on their devices may continue to work exactly as before, but the future remains uncertain.
For now, Amazon doesn't want to say anything about its plans regarding Windows Phone, but the company had said that it removed the app intentionally and recommended that everyone use the browser to access its services.
We're still waiting for official confirmation or at least a hint about what's happening with the Amazon app on Windows Phone.
