From the stage at the F8 developer conference, Facebook made sure people knew that the social network is taking video very seriously as part of its 10-year journey. Another thing Mark Zuckerberg emphasized was that the future of Messenger is in the hands of bots.

The company unveiled the Send and Receive API for developers that will allow them to build bots for Messenger directly. To make things more complicated, bots use machine learning, Facebook announced a more powerful bot framework, the Bot Engine.

At the conference, Mark Zuckerberg reiterated the success of Messenger. With its huge reach, developers can target end users who already exist. The company expects bots to offer a new and refreshed service by connecting businesses and users through Messenger chat.

How to use Facebook Messenger Bots directly?

If you're struggling to understand what Facebook bots look like and how they work, don't worry. They're simply bots that perform a specific service and you can use them right away.

But, right now, they are quite confusing and unintuitive. Many times bots don't know what to do and end up struggling to complete a task.

To make things easier, Adarsh Verma of Fossbytes tried out Facebook Messenger Bots and we share his experience with you:

I started with Facebook's F8 bot. You can also access it via m.me/f8bot. When you visit this URL on your phone, you will be asked to choose Messenger or the Facebook app to proceed.

I chose Messenger and here are the images of my conversation with F8 Messenger Bot.

Then, I decided to try out another Facebook Messenger Bot that was featured during the F8 keynote. Yes, I’m talking about Poncho, the weather bot that pretends to be a cat. My conversation with Poncho was better than my experience with the F8 bot. You can access Poncho at https://m.me/hiponcho.

You can find Poncho and other bots, such as CNN, WSJ, and others, on botlist.co and use them immediately.

Here's how my conversation with Poncho went:
