Things are not looking good for Google in Europe, following a court defeat last week – in which the court ruled that Europeans can now ask the search engine to “forget” their information.
In the Frankfurter Allegemeine Zeitung newspaper last week, Sigmar Gabriel, Germany’s current minister for economic affairs, painted a picture of Big Brother with the search engine. Because Google’s location tracking keeps a huge amount of data, Gabriel wrote, “the seemingly harmless miniature machine in the inside pocket of our suit has developed a life of its own.”.
