Ametys CMS is an open source Java-based CMS that uses the famous Microsoft Office toolbar to manage the content of a website.
Rarely do CMS applications choose to use desktop management visualizations, mostly due to designers' overzealousness in keeping up with Web design trends. But when CMSs resemble desktop interfaces, the result is usually awkward, ugly, or just plain buggy.
Ametys is one of the few CMSs that have successfully created and implemented a desktop editing experience for Web-based content, which works perfectly and adapts to the content managed by the user.
In addition to the toolbar, Ametys also uses a tabbed interface and an inline editing view, allowing even non-technical users to easily edit the content of their web pages.
