Two Greek women, Nefeli Stephopoulou and Anastasia Siapka, are among the 30 finalists of the global competition organized by Microsoft, YouthSparkChallengeForChange. It is the first time that our country has distinguished itself in this global competition with two candidates.

In YouthSparkChallengeForChange, thousands of students, university students and graduates from around the world participated, who were invited to submit their ideas regarding the ways they could bring positive change both to the local community and at a global level.

The voting for the selection of the 10 major winners is open to the public and will be completed on May 14, 2015.

Nefeli Stefopoulou, from Trikala in Thessaly, stood out with Project L.I.N., whose goal is to solve the water contamination problem that many schools in Kenya face. Through this initiative, donations were gathered and water filters were installed in two schools, providing drinking water to at least 500 students.

From her side, Anastasia Siapka from Kilkis was recognized for her initiative "CodeItLikeAGirl". It is a social enterprise that organizes workshops to familiarize women with programming, aiming to acquire valuable technological knowledge and skills and to bridge their representation gap in ICT.
