Samsung has managed to build the world's largest capacity Solid State Drive, surpassing even the largest Hard Disc Drives currently available.

The company managed to create such a large-capacity drive by packing many flash cells together. The company's new SSD (Solid State Drive) has a capacity of 16TB, far exceeding the 6TB of Fixstar's SSD, as well as the 8TB and 10TB of Seagate and Western Digital's HDDs (Hard Drives) respectively.
As is usual with capacities of this size, the company - initially at least - is targeting the server market.
The Samsung hard drive, named PM 1633a, will have a net capacity of 15.36 terabytes to be exact, is 2.5 inches in size and will hold approximately 3.8 million songs (of 4MB of course).
This new storage medium fits into a 2.5-inch case, so theoretically it could be integrated into home desktops and laptops. However, estimates say that it will be some time before this becomes a reality.
Samsung managed to create such a large-capacity drive by packing many flash cells together, while its price (for now) is prohibitive for ordinary mortals, as it amounts to thousands of dollars and is mainly intended for large companies.
