Adobe patches critical flaws in Acrobat & Reader today

Adobe

Adobe is set to patch its popular Acrobat and Reader applications soon, making some critical fixes.

The software versions affected by the changes include the following: Acrobat XI and Reader XI (11.0.10 and earlier), Acrobat X and Reader X (10.1.13 and earlier) running on Windows and Mac OS X operating systems respectively.

The company had previously rated the vulnerabilities with a security severity rating of up to '2'. However, it did not announce exact details about which holes the fixes will be applied to, but stated that there are no known exploits for them out there, since none of the vulnerabilities have attracted hackers so far. However, as is known, immediately after the release of updated versions, and the disclosure of how the vulnerabilities work, hackers begin to exploit these critical problems in order to hit those users who did not hurry to update their systems.

The famous company 's software has been an extremely popular target for hackers for some time, about five years, and naturally, concerns have increased during this time regarding targeted spear phishing , and cyber - espionage attacks .

The fixes are expected to arrive today, May 12, in accordance with the long tradition of companies presenting products with improvements and security fixes on the second Tuesday of each month.
